The title Malzeit refers to the childish act of painting and is also an allusion to mealtime – eating at the table. In addition, food also stands for a feeling of togetherness and love. This non-functional object lacks both. With clear formal simplicity, it poses questions about the role of the child growing up in a world with all its fears, hierarchies and lack of fulfillment of basic needs such as closeness, affection and joy. But the object of the table as such is also fundamentally questioned in its functionality.
