Laura Theurich, born 1999, lives and works in Dresden and Copenhagen. Since 2019 she is studying at the University of Fine Arts Dresden currently in the class of Alicja Kwade. Since October 2024 she has been studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Art Copenhagen in the sculpture department of Simon Dybbroe Møller.

Her work focuses on the in-depth investigation of social constellations, human agreements and social conditions as well as fundamental human fears. She uses everyday objects, abstracting them and placing them in completely new contexts in her work, thereby generating strong emotional reactions. They deal with the physical phenomena of optics, the ability of the eye itself to grasp and feel surfaces haptically and often reveal dramatic events whose imminent danger is latently announced or is to be prevented. However, it remains unclear whether this potential emanates from the objects themselves or whether they serve to protect us.
Thematically, her work deals with the disruption of familiar visual habits in the form of fear objects, which are made out of glas, in public space and the subtle differentiation between danger and protection. She is particularly interested in placing common objects in a new context and observing the extent to which this changes and creates a new reading of the object. Her work is quiet, subtly addressing the theme of violence. A contrast is created between the appearance of the objects and the subtle discomfort they trigger.
